Truck update

I feel
quite useless in helping our truck issue, but know there is nothing
I can do by sitting in BA adding to the stress. As per Jims call
out for help below, I have reached out to all my contacts but to no
result as of yet. Here’s the update on the ride situation and then
I’ll add more color to what we are experiencing in Patagonia. This
is Jim at RawHyde’s note to us all yesterday… …We have spent
the last two days in meetings with brokers, customs agents, and the
shipping company that is carrying our truck.. It turns out that the
ship is actually anchored in the Rio Platte today. However the port
is full. There are six ships ahead of us and the best guess is that
“maybe” we can gain possession of our truck on the evening of the
third. This means it may be possible that we meet the group on the
morning of the 4th. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Otherwise we
get the truck on the 4th and will do our best to play “catch up”
… we’ll keep you posted as we learn more. We were planning to
rent a car but it seems that every vehicle in the country is rented
to New Years partiers. No matter… we’ll make it somehow. Me,
Emmet and Fred will be with you as quickly as we can. Freds bike is
also stuck in customs… Emmets bike is on the same ship as our
truck … We explored powers of attorneys to a third party to
receive and deliver our vehicles… not an option ! We have offered
bribes… nobody bit… If any of you have ideas… or connections
in Buenos Aires I’ll take the help. So as you and I have both read
– it’s not looking super rosey for the truck – but as long as we
are accident and break down free within the team, we will be fine.
More to come as I discover it. Wx

About willindakar

Every few years I try and embark on a trip that takes me to places, both physically and mentally, far beyond anywhere I have been before, as a CEO or father. Climbing the highest summits of Antarctica and Europe, diving with Great White sharks, Motorbiking the highest road in the world are a few of the boxes I've ticked - but the trip i am about to depart for should be one of the most testing. Riding with the hardest land race in the world - The Dakar 2011.
